PUBLISHER’S LETTER: SPRING 2014

Yes, it was 2008 when Karen McCullough (original co-publisher and co-owner) approached me about publishing Edible Dallas & Fort Worth magazine with her. She had a vision and excitement that started a fire in me, and I realized that we could create an awareness in the way DFW looks at local food and that we could fi nd the stories that are the background of this movement. Thank you, Karen, for your vision. Thank you to my sister, Terri Taylor, who has been the editor of Edible DFW since Fall 2010, who has no boundaries when it comes to giving 100% of her time to make sure that every article is the best possible. I’m sure that every writer and photographer who she has worked with her would agree.

And thanks to our readers. Meeting so many of you at farmers markets and events has been a thrill. Thank you for all your positive comments and well wishes. I look forward to getting to know many more of you in the years to come.

And a very, very special thanks to our staff , writers, photographers and advertisers who have made these five years possible. There are two pages in this issue especially for you. I am so grateful for all of your hard work and support. What was once a dream has become a reality.

NANCI TAYLOR is a third generation Texan whose family came to the state in the 1800’s to pursue cattle ranching and Texas has remained her home. She was born in San Antonio, but ended up in North Texas where she nurtured her Texas roots while attending college and raising two sons in Dallas. Proudly following in her parent's footsteps, Nanci plants and harvests the bounty of her own backyard garden in Old East Dallas. She keeps a busy calendar attending local food and ecology events, and on weekends she spends her time visiting with growers and food artisans at farms, shops and farmers markets around North Texas.
