Recipes and Photography by Meredith Steele As far back as I can remember, I’ve associated the State Fair of Texas with the coming of fall. Maybe it’s the slight chill in the air as restaurant patios return to overflowing and waiting in line for brunch is once again the norm. (As long as there’s a mimosa in my hand, I tend not to care how long the line is.)
About this same time, we dust off our patio at home and celebrate fall’s amazing and finally cool weather with friends and family. For fall get-togethers, I have a collection of recipes I rely on—like fried chicken for picnics, butternut squash galette for brunch, sticky ribs for backyard dinners. Here are a few of my favorites plus a quick, easy recipe from my new Effortless Entertaining Cookbook.
