EDIBLE GUIDES: LOCAL RESOURCES

Publisher’s Letter Fall 2024

Hopefully by the time you receive our fall issue, the weather will have cooled off and we will all be getting back outside after the sweltering months. There are plenty of festivals and events to look forward to. You can find out more information on our website, edibledfw.com/events.

At Edible Dallas-Fort Worth, we have many talented writers and photographers who create stories, images, and recipes that take your minds elsewhere and tantalize your taste buds with delicious recipes you’ll want to try.

This is what some of our writers have to say about the articles they have worked on this issue: Meda Kessler on her recipe feature: “Fall is that glorious time between the lazy days of summer and the hectic holiday season. I enjoy casual gatherings with friends with dishes that are suitable for a Saturday-night dinner or a Sunday game-day feast. Four local chefs provided recipes perfect for both.”

Terri Taylor on her piece Tending to her Roots: “What an honor to meet Kim High and hear about her vision for Joppy Momma’s Farm, located in one of Dallas’s most historic, yet underserved, communities. I ate lunch at nearby Bonton Farms after our interview and saw how a similar place has transformed a neighborhood. I hope that all of Dallas will support Kim’s efforts as Joppy Momma’s continues to grow and change lives.”

Eve Hill-Agnus on her piece, Falling in Love: “It’s such a delight to be able to feature the bakers who render our holidays more fragrant, more delicious. Who needs another apple pie? Another pumpkin loaf? Well, actually, these bakers will make you reconsider the classics and welcome new treats into your repertoire. Support them all!”

Daniel Cunningham explores everything about beets in his piece, The Beet Goes On, with growing tips, seed selections and different ways to cook with beets (recipes by Ellise Pierce). Let’s reawaken our love for this versatile root vegetable!

We hope you enjoy all of the stories and recipes in our fall issue and we look forward to seeing you at some of the events listed on our calendar!
